Mistys Laundry Detergent Recipe
1 bar of Fels Naptha laundry soap
1 cup of BORAX
1 cup of Arm & Harm Washing soda (not baking soda!)
4 cups water
5 gallon bucket
Grate the Soap
Put in a pot on medium heat with 4 cups of water. Stir until soap is completely dissolved.
Fill 5 gallon bucket half full of hot tap water. Pour soap mixture into 5 gallon bucket. Mix Borax and Washing soda until fully dissolved. Fill the rest of 5 gallon bucket with hot water.
Let it sit overnight. In the morning it will set up a gel substance on the top. Be sure you mix it up well so it will not be clumpy. I get best results when I use my husbands’ mixer attachment on his drill ( the one in the pic).
Fill used laundry containers with the solution. Shake gently before each use. Use 1 full capful per load.
This recipe last approximately 3 months. I spend less than $20.00 a year on laundry detergent now!
